English Club Activity – Building Confidence Through Conversation

As part of our efforts to strengthen communication skills among our young learners, Gurukulam conducted an English Club activity for the primary students, focusing on basic everyday conversations.

The activity provided children with a friendly and enjoyable environment to listen, speak and interact in English. Students practised simple conversations related to familiar situations such as greeting others, introducing themselves, asking and answering questions, expressing their needs and interacting with their friends.

The sessions were designed to encourage children to speak without hesitation and gradually build confidence in using English in their daily lives. Through pair activities, role play and simple conversational practice, students had opportunities to learn from one another and use the language naturally.

The activity also reinforced the idea that learning a language is a gradual process. Regular practice, encouragement and a supportive environment help children overcome hesitation and become confident communicators.

At Gurukulam, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to express themselves with confidence. Through our English Club initiatives, we aim to make language learning joyful, practical and meaningful, while helping our young learners take their first steps towards effective communication.

Exploring Number Systems and Rational Numbers Through Math Lab Activities

As part of our effort to make Mathematics more interactive, meaningful and enjoyable, Gurukulam conducted a Math Lab Activity on Number Systems and Rational Numbers for the students of Grade VII & VIII.

The activity provided students with an opportunity to explore mathematical concepts through hands-on learning and practical representation. Instead of learning the concepts only through textbooks, students were encouraged to observe, identify, represent and discuss different types of numbers.

Through the activity, students strengthened their understanding of number systems, rational numbers and their representation, while developing greater confidence in working with mathematical concepts.

The hands-on approach encouraged students to think, discuss, reason and arrive at conclusions, making the learning experience more engaging and effective.

At Gurukulam, we believe that Mathematics becomes more meaningful when students are given opportunities to experience concepts beyond the written page. Math Lab activities help transform abstract ideas into concrete learning experiences and encourage students to develop curiosity, logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Independence Day Celebration at Gurukulam

Gurukulam celebrated India's Independence Day with a spirit of patriotism, pride and enthusiasm.

The celebration provided our students with an opportunity to remember the sacrifices and contributions of the freedom fighters who played a significant role in India's journey towards independence. Students were encouraged to understand the values of freedom, unity, responsibility and respect for our nation.

The programme included patriotic activities and performances by our students, who participated with great enthusiasm. Through speeches, songs and other presentations, the students expressed their love and respect for the nation.

The occasion also reminded our children that the responsibility of building a better India belongs to every citizen. Education, discipline, compassion, integrity and respect for others are some of the values that can help us contribute positively to society.

At Gurukulam, we believe that celebrations such as Independence Day provide meaningful opportunities for children to connect with our country's history while developing a sense of responsibility, belonging and citizenship.

               

Anti-Drug Awareness – Creating Awareness Through Art

As part of our continued efforts to create awareness among students about the importance of making healthy and responsible choices, Gurukulam conducted an Anti-Drug Awareness Session along with a Poster Making Activity on 31st July.

The session helped students understand the importance of staying away from harmful substances and making positive choices for their health, well-being and future. Students were encouraged to recognise the value of healthy habits, self-discipline and positive friendships.

As part of the activity, students expressed their thoughts and messages through creative posters. Through drawings, slogans and meaningful messages, they conveyed the importance of saying no to drugs and choosing a healthy and purposeful way of life.

The activity provided students with an opportunity to combine awareness, creativity and self-expression, while reinforcing the message that every individual has a role to play in building a healthy and safe community.

At Gurukulam, we believe that education is not limited to academics. Creating awareness and empowering children to make informed and responsible choices is an important part of their holistic development.

Beach Cleaning and Beach Walk – Learning Beyond the Classroom

As part of our efforts to nurture environmental responsibility among our students, Gurukulam conducted a Beach Cleaning Activity along with a Beach Walk.

Our students actively participated in the beach-cleaning activity, working together to collect and remove waste from the beach. The activity provided them with a practical understanding of the importance of keeping our surroundings clean and protecting our natural environment.

The Beach Walk added another meaningful dimension to the experience. Students had the opportunity to observe the coastal environment, spend time in nature and understand the importance of keeping our beaches clean and safe for everyone.

The activity encouraged students to develop important values such as responsibility, teamwork, discipline and respect for nature. More importantly, it helped them understand that environmental protection is not just a lesson in a textbook, but a responsibility that each one of us can practise in our daily lives.

At Gurukulam, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. Experiences such as these help our children become more aware, responsible and caring members of society.

POCSO Awareness Session – Empowering Children Through Awareness

A POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences) Awareness Session was conducted for the students of Gurukulam on 20th July as part of our continued efforts to create a safe, aware and supportive environment for every child.

The session helped students understand the importance of personal safety, appropriate and inappropriate behaviour, safe and unsafe situations, and the importance of speaking up when they feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Students were encouraged to understand that they have the right to feel safe, respected and protected.

The session also highlighted the importance of trusting responsible adults and seeking help whenever they face a situation that concerns them. Through age-appropriate discussions and examples, students were encouraged to be more aware of their surroundings and to respect the personal boundaries of others.

At Gurukulam, we believe that child safety is a shared responsibility. Along with academic learning, it is essential to equip children with the awareness, confidence and knowledge they need to protect themselves and support one another.

The session was a meaningful step towards strengthening our commitment to child protection, safety and well-being.
