Gurukulam Vocational Training Post Covid

With the government easing the covid restrictions GVTC is back to work!

As reported by Mr David, our GVTC Principal:

Vocational training has started at GVTC from the 7th September 2020. Students have started to come of their own interest. 

We have taken all the safety precaution for the staff and students.

Founding GVTC Principal Retires!

Mr Ramaswamy, our founding Principal of GVTC retired from service!

It was with a heavy heart we bid him good bye!

Mr Ramaswamy was instrumental in helping start GVTC and grow it to its present state...

We have grown to 10 vocational trades since the start in July 2017:

1. Dress Making

2. Cutting & Tailoring

3. Aari Embroidery

4. Beauty Culture & Hair Care

5. Bridal Make Up

6. Basic Computer

7. Two Wheeler Mechanic

8. Home Appliances Servicing

9. Electrical Technician

10. Hair Dressing

Over 115 students have completed training till date, of which 42 students have had job placements (this does not include the women working from home). 54 students are undergoing training at the moment.

Carpentry Workshop

Carpentry Workshop was conducted by Mr. Haresh on 24th Thursday October 2019.

It was an amazing experience for the students from 5th Grade to 11th Grade! 

They had an interactive session, thanks to Mr Haresh. 

Students learnt how to use basic tools and explored their own creativity. 

Macquarie Group Foundation helps start the Electrical and Home Appliances Classes for GVTC

6th June 2019

Thanks to funding from Macquarie Group Foundation, courses in Electrical and Home Appliances has been started.

Children from 6th grade to 8th grade have started learning a vocational trade as part of their all round learning at Gurukulam.

The 8th standard children love the Electrical and Home Appliances! They are feeling truly empowered with this learning!

GVTC reaches out

Our Vice Principal for Gurukulam Vocational Training Centre (GVTC) reached out to the Govt run school towards vocational training.

Macquarie Foundation help with construction of Electrical Block

Thanks to the continued support from Macquarie Foundation, our Electrical Block for GVTC is now complete!

Our loving thanks to Macquarie Foundation and team, without whom this would not have been possible. 

With this we will be able to start new vocational courses early 2019.

The proposed courses will be in:

- Electrical trade

- Household Appliances trade

- Laptop repair

- Mobile phone repair

GVTC Students undergo OJT for the 2 Wheeler Course

28th July 2018

It is wonderful to see our students undergo on-the-job (OJT) training for the 2 wheeler mechanic course.

A mechanic workshop in Pallavaram has agreed to take in all our students to provide the last bit of training before they pass out.

First earning from Tailoring

28th April 2018

The first batch of graduates from our Tailoring Course Programme earned their first salary!

It was a very happy moment!!

A portion of the school uniforms of our children were stitched by the first batch. It was indeed a very well stitched set of uniforms :-) and of course a proud moment for all of us.
