Giving thanks can make us happier

21st Dec 2022

Ms Smitha Nair from "I Volunteer" along with volunteers Ms Sherly Thomas, Ms Swetha and Mr Gopinath from "Visa Facilitating Services (VFS)", visited our school and spent time with our children. They helped with part of our note book requirements. Our loving thanks to them.

To make it doubly special - It was Ms Smitha Nair's birthday and she celebrated it at school with our children.

As reported by our teacher:

On 21st December , Tuesday, "I Volunteer" Ms. Smitha Nair along with "VFS" distributed school supplies to the student for the III term. The donation was from VFS, Egmore (Visa Facilitating Services). Volunteers from VFS Ms. Sherly Thomas,    Ms. Swetha and Mr. Gopinath spent time with our children and were chatting about the various facilities that have been enjoyed by the students of Gurukulam.

They have made a note that "Gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness and it helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.  Ms. Sherly celebrated her birthday with our school kids and she has shared the happiness by sharing chocolates  with our kids and she has expressed that this was the first Birthday she celebrated with full of happiness.

The reciprocation of the kindness can make us happier and it will nurture good relationship with others. We strongly encourage a habit of sharing at least one gratitude note to our sponsors from our children regularly.

The students as well as the sponsors enjoyed the joy of giving.

Grand X MAS Celebration at Gurukulam

24th Dec 2022

Gurukulam celebrated Christmas in a wonderful way .  The arrival of the month of December reminds us of two great occasions. The first occasion is Christmas which is followed by the celebration of New Year. Christmas celebration at the end of the year gives a good farewell to the passing year. It is a great occasion in the ending month of the year for which we are eagerly awaiting every year.  The festival of Christmas always brings joy and happiness among all children.

This day is celebrated by people of all religions with great joy and enthusiasm. The Christmas celebration doubles the joy of children, who eagerly wait for Santa Claus.  We celebrate Christmas and New year before december vacation .  Students started the preparations for Christmas a week before.  Christmas trees were decorated in school, which plays an important part of the Christmas celebration.

Children along with teachers organized various programs like Skit, X Mas Carols and many more.

We organised dancing and exchanged gifts among the teachers as Chrisma & Chrisgirl. The chocolates distributed for the children in school brought happiness and joy among them.

Alumni Gathering Dec 2022

17th Dec 2022

A special day with our alumni!

It felt wonderful to meet our students who had passed out and now finding their path through life, with the values they took away from school. The evening was full of debates (our senior children and our alumni) along with various fun competitions organised by our teachers. The evening ended around a camp fire and dinner!

As reported by our teacher:

Gurukulam organised a get together with the present students along with the Alumni's on 17th December (Saturday). The Alumni's are always the great role models for current students and are often well placed to offer practical support to students as they start their careers. Alumni's are often in the position to engage the expertise of the institution in their professional lives. We treat our alumni as our brand ambassadors.

During the get together a debate was organised, where both of them expressed their views about "Is Education in English required to succeed in Life?"

It was a great experience for the participants and audience with  the information & enthusiasm shared by the kids.

The hands on experience of our Alumni's made our present students to change their attitude and behavioral issues, motivational speech by the Alumni's were a real booster for the present students.

Students have been appreciated with a cash prize for the debate, the prizes have been announced based on the presentation, confidence level and also the language level used by them.

School organised various games for them along with a campfire followed by dinner.

All enjoyed the programme  in the presence of our Managing Trustee.

Team Work - Workshop

 19th Dec 2022

A workshop was conductedwith all our teachers

As reported by our Principal:

Our Managing Trustee addressed the school team on 19th December, Monday with lot of inputs to the team on how to build our children into a strong future pillars and good citizens of tomorrow; not only for themselves but also for the nation.  He has expressed his views with lot of illustrations on how to build a strong team and reach the goal.

The word team has been explained that (Together Everyone Achieve More) with GROW and this stands for (Goal - Reality - Options - Way forward), the above words have carried a real energy for the team and it was well accepted by them.

He has pointed that a team should work together selflessly to achieve a common goal or aim.

The vision of the school  was very clear that we want to bring up the children - those who are economically backwards - at par with others and our small efforts will  help them to have a better future.

He has explained about the team work as Working together is a collective responsibility, that will lead to success on our journey.

His motivation gave a special energy and active plans to bridge the learning gap due to the pandemic.  His blessing and appreciations always make the team to work efficiently towards the success.
