Exploring Plant Nutrition – Starch Test Activity for Grade VII

On 21st August 2025, the Grade VII students of Gurukulam participated in an interactive Science activity focused on the Starch Test, aimed at enhancing their understanding of plant nutrition and photosynthesis.

During the activity, students conducted hands-on experiments to test the presence of starch in different plant leaves. They carefully followed the scientific procedure, observed the color change using iodine solution, and recorded their results. This practical approach allowed them to connect theoretical concepts from their textbooks with real-world observations, making learning both engaging and meaningful.

The activity encouraged critical thinking, observation skills, and scientific inquiry, as students discussed their findings and explored the role of starch in plant energy storage. By performing the experiment themselves, they gained a deeper appreciation of how plants produce and store food, reinforcing key biological concepts.

The Starch Test activity was a perfect example of learning by doing, nurturing curiosity and hands-on scientific skills among young learners at Gurukulam. Such experiential learning sessions play a crucial role in strengthening conceptual clarity and fostering a love for science.
