Our school was delighted to host Mr. Clifford Edwin as a volunteer from 15th to 25th June 2026. During his time with us, he was given the opportunity to shadow the Science classes alongside our subject teacher, allowing him to observe classroom teaching, student engagement, and effective instructional practices.
Mr. Clifford actively interacted with students, supported classroom activities, and demonstrated genuine enthusiasm for learning and education. His friendly approach and willingness to assist created a positive learning environment, and the students enjoyed his presence during the sessions.
The volunteer experience provided a valuable opportunity for the exchange of ideas and learning, benefiting both our students and the school community.
Mr Clifford's background and experience in his own words:
I am an IB Diploma student currently studying at Hiranandani Upscale School in Chennai. I have prior volunteering experience through community service projects, including supporting elderly residents and working with children through theatre-based programmes. I would be most comfortable working with students in Grades IV to VI, particularly in English, Mathematics, and Science, as I am confident teaching these subjects in English. As Head Boy of my school, I have also developed leadership, communication, and teamwork skills that I hope to use while contributing to the students’ learning.
My experience at Gurukulam:
Over the two weeks, I had the privilege of teaching Science, Math, and Social Studies to students from Grades 3 to 9. Every class brought its own unique challenges and opportunities, and I enjoyed adapting my teaching methods to suit different age groups and learning styles. It was incredibly fulfilling to see the students become more engaged and curious as the lessons progressed.
Beyond teaching, this experience taught me the importance of patience, effective communication, and making learning interactive. The enthusiasm and eagerness of the students to learn, despite the challenges they face, was genuinely inspiring and left a lasting impression on me.
I would like to thank you and the entire team for your warm support throughout the programme. The welcoming environment made the experience both enjoyable and meaningful, and I look forward to volunteering with Trust Children again in the future whenever the opportunity arises.
