KPMG makes GURUKULAM "GO GREEN' with SOLAR energy!

Mr Vikram Hosangady, Partner KPMG, graced our school as Chief Guest to open the Solar Panels that will provide electricity for most of our school needs! 

It is indeed a milestone for our school...the day we went GREEN!!

It is part of the KPMG initiative to build energy saving solutions and conserving our nature!

KPMG has been unstinting in their efforts to support our school!

Today we had a look at all the initiatives that have blossomed under KPMG:

1. KPMG's Family for Literacy Programme:

Under this programme, volunteers from KPMG have been constantly engaging our children in the library and school to help them enjoy reading and speaking better. Part of this initiative is the Hippocampus programme in the library. 

2. Internet and Computer Lab for school:

Providing the school with a computer lab and internet has made our school grow in leaps and bounds!!

• All children from the 5th grade onwards have learnt to research topics before they start learning about it!! We call it Topic Research Computer Classes (TRCC).

Our thoughts while instituting this methodology in our teaching method: 

“As opposed to studying from a text book, an online search gives students a chance to explore a topic in various dimensions. It helps kindle their curiosity and understand a topic well, rather than rote learning.”

• All children from Grade 1 to 12 are enrolled in the "Khan Academy" for enhancing their Mathematics. 

This has enabled children to iron out wrong understanding of the subject. Children are starting the Khan academy classes from Grade 1 and working up to their level. 

3. Nutrition Programme:

KPMG has been supporting the cost of lunch and snacks for all our children for the whole academic year!

Needless to say that our children have a healthy body and mind to this wonderful initiative. 

To commemorate all these initiatives, the KPMG team spent a whole day with the children of Gurukulam as the "KPMG DAY".
