The 70th Independence Day was celebrated along with the "Indian Motorcycle Riders Group (IMRG)", Madras Mylapore Round Table 3 (MMRT3) and Madras Mylapore Ladies Circle 4 (MMLC4).
The IMRG made a grand entrance in their "Harley Davidsons", "Triumphs" and "Hayabusa" bikes! It was enthralling for the students to see all the bikes at school!
Capt Vivek Shanbhag ex Commodore RMYC, Mr Shiva Swamynathan Commodore Royal Madras Yacht Club (RMYC), Retd Commodore Amar Mahadevan (exNOIC - Indian Navy) joined us as part of the IMRG group...
Distinguished Retd Commodore Amar Mahadevan (exNOIC - Indian Navy) hoisted the tricolours.
Prachi Shah, Chairperson MMLC4 along with other MMLC4 members gave away the prizes for the school competitions and brought gifts for all the children.
The children put up a series of events to add to the colour and celebrations.
The celebrations of the historic day commenced around 8'o clock.
# We had distinguished guests from IMRG, MMRT3 and MMLC4.
# The celebrations began with the school prayer led by the pupil's leader.
# The congregation was welcomed by Mr. D. Lourdu Raj.
# Then the tricolour National flag was hoisted by the Guest of Honour.
# A patriotic song was sung by a group of kids.
# It was followed by Speeches in Tamil and in English. English speech was from Yokeshwaran and the Tamil was delivered by Hemalatha of GradeVII.
# The next event was prize distribution to some of the winners, from the drawing and essay competitions conducted on the eve of Independence Day.
Chairperson Prachi Shah of MMLC4 and other members gave away prizes to a few selected winners.
# They also sponsored wooden exam pads to all our children.
# After the guests were sent off, we had a skit performed by Grade VI.
# After this, we had a tableau of national leaders (many acted from the primary)who spoke dialogues of the National leaders and cheered the crowd.
# A few notable ones were Rani Lakshmi, VeeraPandya Kattabomman, Dr. APJ, etc.
# Principal's address followed.
# The day was concluded with the National Anthem and distribution of sweets.
Many parents partook in the celebrations and enjoyed the performance of the kids and took snaps with them at the close of the programme.
# The programme was compered by Tamilselvi of Grade XII.
