Project PUTHRI

"Puthri" is an initiative from Avtar Human Capital Trust to provide career guidance and various topics on confidence building to girls from classes 8th to 12th.
Volunteers from Avtar Ms Sonu and Ms Darus have been engaging our girl students. The children have benefited vastly from this programme.
The topic of the day was "Confidence".

GVTC starts the tailoring and beautician courses

The tailoring and beautician courses for women have started at our vocational training centre.
We have 25 women who have joined our first batch!
It was wonderful seeing our dreams a reality :-)
With this, we hope to empower scores of women in and around Kovalam village.

Mr Santosh celebrates his birthday at school!

Mr Santosh decided to spend his birthday with children and he chose the children of Gurukulam!
The celebration included a special lunch from Mr Santosh for all the children and staff!!

Kamaraj Academy District Awards

Our children had participated in various competitions held by Kamaraj Academy in the district level.
Our children came back with a plethora of prizes!! :-)

Preetha of class IX received cash award of Rs 500 for Handwriting.
Drawing competition - 8 students received individual Gift.
English Hand Writing - 4 students received individual Gift.
Tamil Hand writing - 3 students received individual Gift.
Poetry writing - 1 student received individual Gift.
English essay writing - 1 student received individual Gift.

Visit by Swami Suddhanandaji from YSS

Swami Suddhanandaji from Yogoda Satsanga Sakha Math (YSS), visited school and blessed our school and children.
It was wonderful to have his presence at school.
He addressed our senior children on values, essential for better living.
We are thankful to have his august presence amidst our children and school.

Fire Drill
14th July 2017
A fire drill for the school was conducted.
What made this regular fire drill special was the presence of Mr Paramasivam from "Usha Fire Safety" and Mr Suresh from the Fire Safety Dept joined the children and demonstrated life saving techniques and fire fighting skills.
